Confirmed offer-Deloitte Consulting (Analyst)In the pipeline-Booz Allen and McKinsey (can just say I have a good feeling for both. Sorry can't be more specific than that).I know McKinsey is ace and if it works out with them, then it's a no brainer but what is the reputation of Booz Allen as compared to Deloitte especially in terms of work-life balance/quality of clients/salary and perks.For background, I have a distinction throughout my academic career (OxBridge) but am making a transition into Consulting from a Scientific research background. All your help will be greatly appreciated. It is the most important decision of my life and it will tremendously helpful to know whatever I can about all the three firms. Cheers!

Agree with anaon. Whilst I hate all this talk of tiers and snobbery, deloitte figures with the pwc's, accenture's, capgemini's and e&y's of the world whereas BAH would tend to be talked of in the same sentance as Bain and so on, albeit as the least attractive of the 4 top firms to work for.

Should definitely be:McKBAHDeloitteFirst two will be more demanding in terms of hours, but will open many more options not available from Deloitte. Deloitte are not great payers and work life balance is not so much better to compensate.

Thanks all, for your opinion. Yes, I am beginning to get an impression that despite numerous awards and a huge Consulting turnover people have a tendency to dismiss Deloitte as mainly an Audit firm. I would personally peg myself as an aspiring Strategist rather than an Accountant, but Deloitte's size, brand, and training program in place are very attractive. Also, >32k in London isn't exactly peanuts. Or is it? What does Accenture offer to entry level Consultants/Analysts?

I wouldn't call it peanuts, but if you wanna live anywhere reasonable, you're talking £600 - £700 pcm rent. 100ish travel per month, just for your oyster card... so you're not gonna be swimming in dough! That said, if all these firms really do want to hire you, you must be pretty good, so up the greasy pole you should go! then blow your cash, watching girls do likewise!

I have no idea!Like I said, it's still in the process, so no offers from Booz yet but yes I would be interested in knowing what they offer. I am sure someone will enlighten soon enough.

Don't get me wrong about Deloitte, it has a number of good points or I would not have gone there in the first place. It is simply that you would be able to join Deloitte after either of the other two and have a faster career path.On the money it is interesting to see how many of the fresh faced grads that joined last year were bitter about their level of pay pretty quickly.
