I need suggestions fo a good venue for a lunch tomorrow. Happily it's a Date not a a work thing, and it's fair so i'm looking to make a good impression. The thing is, she's not the kind of girl who's going to be impressed by the usual City restaurants etc, and frankly i dont want to be surrounded by bankers, lawyers, and other consultants either... So what i need is somewhere really nice but not totally pretentious! I've heard that Foliage, at the Manderin Oriental is good, but anyone go any ideas?

The Mandarin is wonderful. I go there at least once a week but the ambience is better in the evening than for lunch.

Go away you nauseating, insufferable excuse for a human being. This is a consulting forum. This is not a forum for cretin like you to debate such pointless, boring and uninteresting piffle.Tony- could we please rid the forum of such nonsense?Zbigniew Brzezinski

Bring her to the Brunswick centre near Russell Square tube. There's a few restaurants there (Carluccios, Nandos, Hare & Tortoise, Giraffe, etc..) which are fairly priced and have nice ambience. I recommend Hare & Tortoise personally. There's a Starbucks there for after lunch as well.

ZB,You seem to be a very angry little man, do you have personal problems? Anger management issues perhaps? "Go away you nauseating, insufferable excuse for a human being" honestly, what kind of overblown, bizarre insult is that? In fact it leads me to wonder why you feel the need to contribute, if you don’t like the question, just ignore it! You seem to be a pompous, self important clown, to cap it all you go running to 'teacher', asking for threads you personally disapprove of to be removed. The reason I asked the question here dear boy, is that I assumed I would get an informed answer, from a group of people who’s opinion I’d be inclined to trust... with the (dishonorable) exception of yourself, that assumption has proved correct. That said, I do find your school girl tantrums quite entertaining, so my dear old boy you may take solace in the fact that you've added value to my day.

If you're anywhere near Tower Hill, Mary Janes is excellent. Not had lunch there but decor is great.

Not that i want to start a slanging match.... BUT.ZB, while your desire to keep this forum strictly focused on consulting, is luadible. A quick trawl through recent threads, shows that you have contributed nothing, other than than to hurl insults! Even on accenture threads, you are conspicuous by your absence. You must be so proud of yourself! well done! Incidentally, thanks to the rest of you, I think i'll give th Manderin a try.

ANTOHER QUESTION:While we are on the topic of dates I have an important question – more of a problem actually…...I have a date this weekend - a girl I meet last week, but I have forgotten her name...not good!!! Not that I was that drunk but for some reason when she said it to me my mind went blank...So can anyone think of a smart way to find her name out while talking to her without having to straight out asking her??? This is time we put these intelligent brains to good work!!She is v fit - so want this to go sweet ;)

DJD: You are incredulous! You come pranching on in here, no doubt frangranced-up with that cheap imitation Hugo Boss aftershave you procured from Camden Market and then have the temerity to ask for advice about restuarants et al. Yes it is laudable that I am trying to constrain the debate to consulting here, it is a consulting forum afer all. You DJD or whatever your name is, are symptomatic of the degenerate, stale and hopelessly insecure state of society here.Let me hazzard a guess:1. You watch reality TV assidiously2. You change your mobile phone every three months3. You work for ACN in either SI or SAP rubbish and believe what you are doing actually adds value to your client.

Well whilst, we're all on the subject of dating, where's the best place to meet nice girls. I.e professionals rather than gold diggers, druggies, milfs, and those in crap jobs. I'm being serious here - everytime I go out I tend to only meet the above.Ad let's get the jokes about Soho out the way, so I can get some sensible advice. My experience of London nightlife has thus far been:Turnmills/Fabric et al - full of people who are really really boring to talk to until they do drugsEmbassy/Paper/Mahiki et al - mostly gold digging girls (on the weekends at least)Tiger Tiger - average age for a girl in there seems to be 30+ WHY are there soo many older women going clubbing these days???Inferno's - too much of a meat market for my liking, although it's a good laugh
