Quick poll - what sort of salary rise did you get after an MBA - let's look at how much better off you are after 1, 3, 5 years.I'm an IT consultant so most interested in similar people.Give the following please:- years experience before MBA- salary before MBA- where did MBA- salary after MBA (1, 3, 5 years)Thanks all

more to the point, how much of the salary change was due to the MBA itself as opposed to a renewed vigor in looking for a better paying job

Ought to qualify this? Where you took your MBA will make a real difference - I have seen post MBA from good BS such as INSEAD, Wharton, LBS and even Warwick make some VERY substantial rises, more so than say Cranfield or suchlike, across the board.

Presumably doing an MBA is only worthwhile up to a certain pre-MBA salary point (assuming that most MBA recruitment is targeted at a certain career stage)? I see all these quotes of 150% increases, etc. but that's got to be from a pretty low base, hasn't it?Assuming that I'm assuming correctly, what would people say is the upper limit for pre-MBA salary to make an MBA worthwhile?Or, does absolutely everyone pick up huge raises regardless (in which case I'm off to do my gmat). Thanks

It's worth Google searching this subject; I read a number of reports pointing to salary increases when I was doing my MBA, and the general trend seemed to be a good increase, although it is worth caveating that it depends on the school, your roles (old and new), the market/sector, work/life balance issues. Did it work for me? Yes, but it was also more about changing role - it's not all about your bank balance...
