How many consultants find they work in a poor environment? i.e the office has no atmosphere people don't talk to each other (exempt when working on a project together) everyone communicates via email or Does anyone work in a really good environment dare I say FUN!

I worked in PwCC/IBM for almost 10 years in their finance transformation - it was a really cold and hostile place to be. I don't know what its like now since the partner in charge went to join BAS. From what I hear he's brought the sunshine and joy with him !!!!

I worked for Microsoft for a few years and i dont think you will get a better place to work. I actually enjoyed going to work and it was such a relaxing atmosphere.

I interviewed with Microsoft, and from what I gather, they wanted to dump me on my own at a client site for the foreseeable future, trying to justify my £250K of fees to the client each year. It may be OK if you want to join as a programmer and play with X-boxes in the common room at lunchtime, but if you're intending to be a consultant, forget it!

They have internal consultants who dont travel and alot of the consultants work for free (i.e. paid for by Microsoft Uk/Corp and not the client). But certainly see your point.

Me - can you give me any tips about trying to get into MS? I want to bail out of the long hours, packed commuter trains culture of central london and move to reading if I can get a decent local job there
