Best and worst parts of your job?
Curious

To all strategy consultants - what would you say is the best and worse thing about your job? Possibly, outside hours being the worse and money being the best....

Best part - interesting and varied work. Worse part - working with extremely public school, middle class snooty people all day!

At leat all those snooty, middle class people con probably speak the language and write it grammatically. You cannot have the 'best and worse' parts. It has either got to be the 'best and worst' or the 'better and worse'.The worst part of my job is having to try to communicate with other consultants who lack basic literacy and numeracy. The best part is working with those who are competent.

LOL This forum cracks me up - Touchy, touchy. Worst part: working with arrogant, pinickity people (Oh no, pinickity isnt actually word!! What to do?!) Best part: really interesting & stimulating work, lots of direction and clear career progression.

Can't imagine things have moved on that much since my pre-Top-Consultant days in strategy consulting?!Best things were the variety of work and the immediacy of feedback / impact that your work is having on the project completion; the (genuinely) senior interactions with top management of FTSE 100 businesses that I enjoyed even whilst still an analyst; the jet-setting and expense account lifestyle.Worst bits were: never quite knowing for sure that your weekend would be uninterrupted by work until you'd got to Sunday afternoon and still not had a call; getting to the age where the jet-setting and expense account lifestyle had become a burden rather than a privilege (circa late twenties for most I'd say).Tony RestellTop-Consultant.com

I so agree - the novelty of staying in nice hotels and travelling, all expenses paid really does wear off in your late twenties...but it's an eye opener and makes you realise what is important in life...and it's not all about work and money, money, money!
