Hi, Please can someone shed some light on Mercer Oliver Wyman? Reputation, kind of work, client base, compensation, position, how big is UK and US practice, are they hiring? For context, experienced hire > 10 yrs, 2 verticals (FS, MFG), management consulting Any feedback from current or ex MOW's will also be highly appreciated. Thanks

Yes, don't apply to the London office because your command of the English language seems to be similar to that of a 6 year old. Just imagine if they needed you to write a letter to a CEO... it would be embarrassing!"Advices" indeed.

Such abrasive comments are typically true of consultants who are thin on content, thick on ego, and low in general well being. Thanks 'Hang On' for stepping in - but i take no offense from such drivel. And now, any information to my original question would be much appreciated. Thanks

Yeah, somehow I don't think "advices" was a simple typo anymore. And what's up with the "And now.." bit? No articulate person actually talks or writes like that, unless perhaps they're a circus entertainer introducing the next act.

I am hoping, desperately hoping, that the Class-1 w*ankers on this forum are not representative of the consulting industry as a whole! It's a bloody forum, not an English writing course!!! If you are unable to provide a constructive answer/response, then save us all the unnecessary reading time and don't answer it!!!

Why do u need mathematical genius'es in FSI consulting? I can understand their use in complex credit derivative structuring - but beats me to think that they would have any use in any form of consulting !

It's not Mercer Oliver Wyman any more, it's Oliver Wyman (I assume you are referring to the Financial Services Consulting arm, not General Management Consulting). This happened in May, but I'll assume this was a slip on your part rather than complete lack of research. FS is definitely hiring, as is the company as a whole, thanks to very strong growth. This year there is a lot of focus on brand building, for obvious reasons. There is a very good vibe about the trajectory.Several hundred consultants in London in total, with Financial Services bigger than General Management Consulting. Compensation is "highly competitive".If you have more specific questions I'll give those a go, otherwise suggest a Vault guide for more general background. Best of luck!

Anonymous Insider: thank you for your informative post (the first meaningful one). I do have some specific questions, and would appreciate if you can provide more information:1. Levels - what level would a consultant with 10 years experience be usually coming in at - SA, P, D? Can you provide a rough salary band for these?2. FS vs General Management - can crossovers happen? What would be your suggestion to a candidate with experience in 2-3 verticals3. Recruiting Process - for experienced hires - what is the major emphasis on - CV, Case, ..Thank you in advance

I had interviewed with them (for a junior position though) - my responses to your questions from what I gathered at the interviews.1. With your experience, you will probably be looking at a Senior Manager level. I do not see anyone hiring you as a Director / Partner; unless you are a Partner in your present firm and you bring in business with you.I am not sure if they have standardized salary strucutre. But, if you are a consultant and not at MBB, they will pay more than what you get now.2. At your level of experience - if you are looking at FS, then you will need to specialize. Crossover may happen at junior levels, but not at SM level.3. I was interviewing for a junior role - had my interviews split half-way between case and CV. Had the feeling that more was at stake during the CV interviews.
