I am just about to start a new job search. Last time (a few years ago) it took me 375 applications to get 2 offers. I am hoping to make my search less painful and would really appreciate any advice. The 375 applications were all for advertised roles in both industry and consulting. This led to 60 first interviews, 22 second interviews and 2 offers.Of the 60 first interviews 1/3 were rejected by me as unsuitable; and a further 1/3 rejected me or never contacted me. This left me with 22 second interviews: 3 were not of interest. 9 rejected me. 8 changed the job spec or did not recruit anybody 2 made me offers.

My advise - stop applying for jobs you are underqualified for

Ouch, you have already answered your own question - i.e. you take a spray and pray approach to the market and seem astonished and dismayed that this is what you received in return! If you focus your search much more closely to your experience you should have more success in much less time and activity.

375 applications, 60 first interviews to get 2 offers. How much of other peoples time have you wasted? You either have an appalling cv or you have been sending your cv to completely irrelevent organisations... This time I would research roles alligned to your skill set and don't send your cv to the whole world!
