Totally Demotivated

OK, I am late 20's and run a successful consulting company. I have 8 perms work for me and a number of contractors. Problem is, I am bored senseless with work. I cannot seem to get motivated - If I am being honest, the work is dull, but I cannot simply "move on" due to my employees. Any advice on motivation techniques?

Put in some systems/processes so that the business isn't dependent on you personally, and then either sell it or employ a CEO?

Look yourself in the mirror and say 'It's either this or recruitment' - should clear that motivation issue right up!

Mars - If I am honest, alot of the work is essentially contract recruitment, with a consulting "mask" on it all - so no help reallySVP - the way the company is structured means that I am at least 2-3 years away from a salePear - Many Thanks!I think the issue is essentially that I have motivation issues to get me through the "boring" parts of the job - I simply want to put them off. Does anyone have any resources that they could point me in the direction of. Some may say that I am lazy and should get on with it all - would probably agree

I worry about my mortgage, get annoyed by the M4, bicker with my wife, put steve mclaren/brian ashton in their place from my armchair, and get motivation dips at/about work. Then I see things like this and realise how lucky I am and how brave others are.http://news.sky.com/skynews/picture_gallery/0,,70141-1282502,00.html

I have this problem a lot. At times, I really struggle to get anything doen to the point that I think I may have real depression issues. I get onto this site and see what words of wisdom Pear has to offer and suddenly everything is OK. There is always someone in event management consluting who is worse off than you

Couple of suggestions:Is there anyone internally ready to be promoted into a more managerial/operational role, who could help to cover off some of this stuff? May be you also need to look at what your business is doing and what it could be doing - I suspect the demotivation is from treading water, so if you can start planning some ambitious developments this should get the juices flowing again, whether it be new markets, more staff, better premises etc. Working smarter not harder could also help, if you can compress work into a shorter, harder working time frame then this would free up time to do something more interesting/rewarding. Getting the boring parts out of the way first thing in the morning can be good. Simple points I know, but they seem to work alot of the time.
