Good evening gentlemen.I would like your advice about credit cards which offer cashback or have excellent 'special offers'.I spend a small fortune on hotel bills and similar junk, and would like my cut of the action. So far I have found a credit card which offers 1% cashback (the Capital One Platinum Card). Do you know of any which offer a better deal?I'd also like a free watch or some other nice little present. Your suggestions, please?Thank you.

I used to have an Egg card, but they no longer do cashback. They do some gimmicky 'money card' thing which gives a bit of cashback, but quite frankly I can't be bothered with all that hassle if I can get the same rate from Capital One on a 'proper' credit card. What's the Amex Platinum like? Also any ideas for ones which give free watches and stuff?Thank you.

i am interested as to why anybody would choose to use AMEX platinum. they charge you an anual fee and aren't really that widely accepted

If you're spending on flights and hotels they all take AMEX, and big ticket items like that make airmiles or cashback much more feasible relative to other reward schemes.

Does anyone have any experience of the amex platinum concierge service? Any good? How much do you have to earn to have one?

Regarding the Amex Plat I pay no annual fee. I think with the proliferation of credit cards they could noi longer afford to stay too far away from the market. Perhaps I was just lucky when I got invited to take one out that it had no fee at that time.Amex can be a bit of a pain as Amex why said in that they are in no way as widely accepted as say Visa. This is down to the fact that they cost the merchant more in terms of fees. However for large stores, petrol stations, hotels and airlines they are readily accepted plus they have the cash back facility, not a great deal but you can't knock something for nothing....not entirely true as you have to spend a significant amount to accumulate a cashback. On the plus side they are excellent to deal with service wise.
