Hi Guys,I need some real advice! My situation:Late 30's - expertise in Biometric consultanting (National ID card bid, Biometric passports etc..)and many years Project management experience working for the likes of Atos Origin, lots of central Government experience, currently a contractor, £700 pday.Dilemma: Recieved a call from Deloitte HR a couple of weeks ago, they had come across my CV and were interested in talking to me about possibly joining their consulting/security practice. they are aware of my contracting rates and previous perm salary(£85k 2 years ago).A week later they contacted me and arranged an interview with a Partner/director!My concern: I would really like to join a consultancy during my career, but which? I Have read a lot of posts about the processes in joining DTT and the culture, and the Grades and now feel I am jumping right in at the deep end. Would appreciate any advice from experienced consultant. Thanks M

Go for it! Sounds like you have the kind of experience they are looking for, as they have made the first step to contact you. You'll probably be joining as a Manager or Senior Manager, not sure what the pay is though. You can get a feel for the type of company Deloitte is through the interview. Just make sure you have prepared some questions of your own to properly establish whether this really fits your career goals.

Hove you won't be in at the deep end - they know your background for a start, so they won't be expecting you to hit the ground running on day 1, and these days most firms run ongoing development programmes for new and more experienced hires. If you are meeting a Director at stage 1 you can be confident that your application will be effectively sponsored throughout should you pass the interview.Deloitte is a great firm - strong brand, bright people by and large, and a robust business at the pipeline end. Just focus on ensuring that both you and Deloitte are getting what you're looking for.

Thanks to Mars A Day an anon for the advice, I have been preping myself this week so hopefully I am prepared, anon mentioned manager or senior manager as a likely position of entry, ny advice or guidance as to what the salary expectations should be and what and when to bring this up/negotiate? To be quite honest the consulting world with regard to renumeration and grade is Greek to me! I would appreciate any info regarding this, fore warned and all that.RegardsHove
