Hi all would appreciate some perspectives from you all. Im a former Big 4 Analyst, now working in Oil and Gas industry for the last year. Am much happier here, but want faster career progression to keep me in line with all you Consultants. At the moment i earn 52k plus live rent free (but with much higher european tax) having 2 years exp in Accenture beforehand. Im also an Oxford grad and doing CIMA aswell. On a whim i applied to b school and got an offer from Insead and want to know your views are. Ideally i would like to move into PE in the long term, but at the moment to get into it I need to get some M&A experience either here or elsewhere. Would Insead be worth it in my situation? Cost of MBA is €49k not including living expenses.... and my company wont sponsor it, but will keep jobs open for me if/when i return?would you do it if you were me? Thanks

I would say do the mba, then join a bank in m&a as associate (insead brand name shouldnt render this too difficult) and then after x years you could move to a PE firm. PE shops do take mba's on but from my understanding it would tend to be those who have been in m&a previously.Where else did you work and how much work experience do you have? Just Accenture?I ask because i was the poster a little further down looking to go to Insead for MBA and have 3 years experience here (Acn).

thanksyeah 2 years accenture but before that had a year of retail management on the M&S grad scheme. Personal views are it is very easy to get into insead if you play on the things they are looking for - internationally minded people, international experience and international ambitions. people admitted tend to be quite young c 27 so dont have all that much experience 3 years at Acc is plenty i think
