Could someone please explain the BAH career levels and how many years it takes to get to each level assuming one joined as a grad?

I would be interested to know this as well - along with potential pay bands at each different levels? Any help out there?

BAH career level are con, senior cons, ass, sen assoc, prinipal and partnerWithin each one there are two levels i.e c1, c2, sc1, sc2 etc..Promotion takes about two-three years each level.Pay is crap by the way £35,000 for associates and £43,000 for sen associate.rippr

I agree... one thing you definitely can't fault BAH for is the pay... the pay is VERY good (best in the industry?)

I am currently awaiting an offer from BAH for an associate role. Reading through this then £75k would be reasonable. What else is standard with the package? Car allowance, bonus,pension,healthcare?

With BAH, you name it you get it. The only thing they don't do (for Londoners) as far as I know is a car allowance. The benefits offered by BAH are truly first rate.

Any ideas on Senior Associate packages? How wide is the pay band between top and bottom of the level?

SA pay varies greatly. A senior SA can be earning an absolute fortune, we're talking the same kind of figures that partners in other firms might be earning. The amount of money a principal consultant can earn is mindblowing. It's the bonuses that do it... some SAs can go home VERY happy indeed with their pay at the end of the year. We're talking "pay off the mortgage with one year's bonus" type bonuses.

Yes, BAH is a first rate salary payer.Associates do also receive bonuses. They are fairly high. Huge by industry standards.

Does all this talk of mega money relate to specific areas of BAH eg- strat? Or are all the areas equally well paid?

the BAH pay levels are similar to the other big 4 consultancies (Acn, Deliotte etc).not sure when an SA at BAH has got a bonus in the order of mortgage pay off. That only happens in IB.Associate pay is maxed at about 85k.

Are you kidding?? BAH senior associates earn an absolute mint. They changed the pay deal a while back so that a top-performing SA or principal can even earn as much as a partner!! A senior associate by the way is totally different to a regular associate... SA pay STARTS way above 85K, it doesn't "max out" there as one poster put it!!! To compare BAH vs. Accenture is in my view like comparing Goldman Sachs vs. Lloyds TSB retail.

I don't know the exact figures, but let's just say that SA's certainly don't lose sleep over money issues. These people acquire substantial wealth (and I mean substantial) VERY quickly.

sorry anon, i think you have got a BAH SA confused with someone from another profession. maybe your mate is one and he won the lottery but didn't tell you.SA's earn around that of Senior Managers in big 4 consultancies, which is v. good - but nothing more than what good contractors can pull in.

put it this way, i know BAH SA's who were millionaires by the age of 30 and not because they had any lottery wins

Join as graduate at 212 years at C level (C1,C2)2 years at SC level (or alternatively, MBA)2 years at A level (A1,A2)So by age 27, in theory you could be an SA.That leaves 3 years of SA earnings (and by that time you could even be just about ready to become a principal).I figure it's just about do-able.

impossible. there is no way they could be millionaires by the time they are 30's as employees of a Strategy consultancy. Unless they made a lot of money on the side from property etc

Lets put this to rest, I used to work at BAH left as SA. They do NOT pay silly money. They pay generally better than Del, Acn, EY, PwC etc, but not significantly. It's impossible (yes impossible) to be a millionaire from consulting by 30. It has probably never been done.Worked in Energy by the way

If you left as SA, I'm guessing you could well be 'raf' or 'dxn' (this will mean something to you if you know who I'm on about!). I wish I'd kept in contact with more of the people I met and got to know at BAH

I left during the time when they had huge numbers of people on the beach at any one time and suddenly started holding 'all staff meetings' every other friday in the hotel next door to let people know what was going on. Joined a smaller company which paid the same but let me go home at 5.30pm every night (I felt and still do feel like a part time worker in comparison!!)
