Hi,I've got a first round interview at Accenture soon. I've got five years experience as a Software Engineer and have graduated in the last six months.I want to move into technology consulting from software development...Do the same kind of opportunities exist in technology consulting as the other consulting streams at accenture in terms of salary and career progression? What kind of salary can I expect to earn within five years? Could I still become a partner?

I think you will be making a good move. Salary will depend on your performance - you wll make parnter if you can demonstrate performance, and to do this you will need to win new business.......Good luck

Thanks for the info. Why do you think it will be a good move? I was actually considering cancelling it because I didn't think i was cut out for it.I love the technical aspect of my job but don't have the opportunity to deal with clients. I also want to work on large scale IT systems. I'm slightly apprehensive of the 'competitive' aspect of the job. It is really as cut throat as everyone makes out it is?

No, it's not as cut throat as people make out.If you want to remain technology focused, take a look at ATS (Accenture Technology Solutions).http://corporatewhore.blog.com

I certainly want to move into consulting. I don't just want to be an implementer any more.I just can't decide whether the consulting 'lifestyle' suits me. I'm ambituous and competant at my current role and feel I could do well - but I feel slightly intimidated by the up or out culture. Looking at the larger picture - suppose I move into a management position five years down the line. Winning business - I don't know how to do this!!Did anyone else feel like this before they started on a grad consulting scheme? I suppose you grow into the role?
