Hi all, A little advice and help needed please. I am currently a senior automotive engineering, working for a consultancy developing engines for OEM's. I have a Master’s degree in automotive engineering and have been working for 4 years. Recently I have been diversifying my engineering role into winning new business with lead clients and expanding these leads into further business opportunities. In short I am interested in moving away from engineering and into business development. I am now researching into a change of career into management consultancy, specifically operations and product development areas. My questions on management consultancy are:• What kind of role would best suit me? – I would like to retain some sort of tie to my existing experience in the automotive sector, if possible. • Which companies could offer me these kind of roles? And how do they stack up to each other? – From reading articles, forum and websites, Mckinsey and PA seem preferable in these areas. • What position could I apply for? • Any tips on how to utilise my past experience in gaining a position in management consultancy? Many thanks in advance, An engineer.
