Accenture Experienced Hire - Designation and starting salary

Hello, I have got a offer Accenture Technology Consulting at C1 level. I do have an overall experience of 6 years in software services including 2 years experience working in client facing roles. I believe that if one starts at graduate level in Accenture, he can get to C1 level in 2-3 years. So I am not sure whether I have been offered the correct designation. I was sort of hoping C2 level. What is the average salary at the C1 and C2 position? Any feedback would be helpful.

Hi,More or less the same happened to me. I am joining as C1 being 29 years old. But I know well that by staying another year in my present role I would get nowhere close to Accenture’s C2 requirements. And, by the way, I will be earning less money than I do now.

Just for your info. donot read too much into differences between C1, C2, C3 etc.C1 to C2 is pretty much automatic move after one year. Similar is the case from C2 to C3. These are NOT promotions but just internal way of saying how many years as a consultant level. In normal situation, at C3 one may be considered for promotion to Manager M1 level. Of course different criterion apply here.Univ. grads normally enter ar Analyst A1 level. after A2 they are ready / can be considered for promotion to C1 level. Whether you have one to one fitment, it depends upon what type of expereince you have had OR how hot the skill is in the market. With this I hope you can place your situation in right perspective. Good luck!

I beg to differ, you should always push to join a consultancy at the highest level you can. i have made the classic mistake of accepting their proposed level in the past, if you feel you should be higher based on your experience then challenge them. You can potentially save yourself one or more years at a specific level. Consultancies are motivated to place you at the lowest possible levels for obvious reasons.

Obviously, as with everything in your life you need to sell yourself. In my case I didn't want to lie too much because I assumed that they might talk to the references. So, yes I could have sold myself better but I could have also burnt the whole thing. In the role I leaving I have no exposure to the customers, which obviously worked against me.

agree, but i guess they always have a reasoning that if some one comes at the "right level" then they will get burnt very fast so consultancies bring people. So how do you see this comment in light of your proposal that shoot for the highest level? are consultancies just trying to squeeze people?

Thanks a lot for your views. I think that if you urself are confident that you can excel in one level up as offered you should approach them. And thats exactly what I am doing because I sincerely believe that with my experience I cannot accept anything below than C2. Thanks guys for your views.
