I am 57, currently working as a senior pursuit and project manager with a multi-national PLM software company- approximately 20 years in IT, the last 12 in software management. I am planning to do an EMBA at Ivey School in London Ontario (top ranked Canadian MBA school, in FT top 50)My reasons for doing this at such a late age are rather personal, since I am decently compensated (~US$150,000). The only 'practical' value I can see is the possibility of spending my remaining years - before retirement - working overseas, in Europe or UAE.I can see the normal hurdles of a move to another country - given my age though, would it be even possible to make such a move, despite an newly-minted EMBA from a good school and extensive IT manangement experience. Canada is not too bad when it comes to 'age discrimination' - what is like in European Countries or UAE?

UK is very ageist. You would find it hard at 40 let alone 60.That said I am sure you would find the course interesting and Ivey is a good school. So if it does not mean giving up your job and you have the money, time and motivation......

Joe, PLM is now becoming very trendy in Europe. PLM use to be for the big players only. its now been sort after by the smaller ones. I wouldent let age put you off. The only place you will find 'age discrimination' is in the city consultancys. There are plenty of smaller consultancys in Europe that would employ you in a heart beat because as PLM is quite new there are very few experts. I allso worked for a major PLM player and left last year at 40. Im now earning stacks and indapendant. If you need contacts in europe give me a shout.P.S. dont worry about the age thing its a load of B***

You are 57 and still want to work, you should be proud rather than worried.(Except if you didn't manage to be financially independent by 57, in which case I would be worried too.)
