I'm a second year undergrad at Nottingham Uni and want to be a consultant. The main thing I'm noticing is that most consultancies are based in London. Problem is I'd rather not move to London if I can avoid it, what are the chances of joining a reputable firm with an office in Manchester??I know that consultancy involves working away a lot, and I'm ok with that, its one of the things that attracts me in fact, but I'd like to be based close to my family in Manchester.Thanks

Hi PeeloSeveral firms have offices in Manchester.The main issue is how the firms work - some have regional teams (doing work within the North West / North) others have national teams with consultants based in Manchester, but actually they can be sent to projects all over the country.The chances of having an office base of manchester is high, the chances of always working near the office isn't high.

I'm based in Birmingham and have not been there in the week for over three months, my colleague sat next to me is from Edinburgh office and doesn't even always go home at weekends!
