How much should a newly promoted C1 be expecting at Accenture? £45k too high?

Really? I'd imagine one may be able to leave after 2 years and join another firm for 40-45 though right?

I see a lot of jobs looking for people with 2 years consulting experience where the starting salary is between 40 and 45k. On this site even!36k for C1 is pretty low, i'm sure other firms will pay more. And getting you more money is partly why a lot of people go to recruiters.

Hi there...this post develops a wider question in my mind..I have just completed 2 years on a graduate scheme at a large full service consultancy; been promoted and fyi also have 2 years blue chip industry exp prior to starting.I am looking to move to another consultancy. Despite being a top performer here, my salary (30k) is way below industry avg. Here is my pickle....naturally I have not yet developed a specialst area in consulting yet. I have managed to stay on the business side of the fence with some costings/ Business analysis / organisational analysis... a bit of everything. I consider myself to have gained a solid client facing consulting experience however.I really want to make a move in the next few months....all advertised roles seem senior and specialist. Surely people move after 2 years??Would the Big 4 consider me as a junior consultant? Hopefully my salary will also increase.Through what means does a person with my generalist but solid profile approach apply??

Hi,I am a recruiter and the average consutlant with about 2 years relevant experience earns about £38/40k. Some consultancies do offer more for really good candidates but 45k is not common. I just would not assume that after two years you can easily walk into another consulting firm earning 45k. :-)

That's interesting, 40k would be fine but i reckoned 36k was a bit low, slogging your guts out for 2 years to get an extra 2k (after bonus added from grad scheme).sounds a bit arsey over 4k but at this level a few grand more is quite a lot unlike say at s. manager level.

A short answer; Yes you should be able to get another consultancy role yet. Some of the most experienced Consultants I work with have spent their careers being generalists; working across industries and providing a range of 'consultancy' services to their clients. With 2 years exp and a good track record...should be able to get you to ther interview stage. Then good performance at interviews with GENUINE reasons for moving (not just monetary) should be able to get you a new role (with a small pay rise.)

Depends on your performance rating and the business conditions that year. I went from A2-C1 at £44k, then C2 at £57k, so it's not all bad.

No i did mean 57k. If you get top rated two years in a row (on promotion to C1, then the following year), the compounded percentage increases add up quite nicely :-)

Why are you on about the compound percentage? The C1 to C2 annual rating and percentage increase is completely independent of what's gone before.Either way, at C1/2 a 29.5% rise in base pay is so far outside normal allowed range that it's literally not possible without authorisation from the HRD and country MD. Unless you've invented a cure for cancer or a whole new IT operating model that would put you on the headhunters' target list, it's not going to happen. An ACN recruiter in disguise would know the permitted ranges so wouldn't undermine their pitch by claiming the impossible. Therefore, I suspect you're just an Analyst using an overactive imagination to desperately cling to the hope that you've not ballsed up your career by coming here.

If you are on 57K as a C2 you are probably in for disappointment at C3.

Don't mix up internal and external hire career paths. The £55/57k range is only for external hires at C2 who come in on higher salaries and with substantial industry experience but are given a lower Accenture grade until they prove their consulting ability.

A2 salary was £32.5k, promoted to C1 at very top of peer group to £44k, there was an off cycle pay adjustment for everyone around Christmas 2006 that took me to £46.5k (forgot to mention that before, sorry), then I was rated sig above to C2 and salary went to £57k.

So you're claiming an £11.5k leap from A2 to C1 (a 35% pay rise). For those of us who have people management responsibilities and actually undertake the ranking and pay decisions, that's laughable. For the A2 to C1 move, there is literally no way to sign off that kind of increase. I've never heard of going to the country MD for that kind of decision - you'd have to go through every intervening level of escalation before you even got there and that would p*ss off so many people it's frankly not worth it.

NK and M1, do you even work for Accenture?I went from £30,500 as an A2 to £41,250 as a C1, a 35% raise, so this is entirely believeable as far as I'm concerned. I had "outstanding" ratings consistently and was promoted early.

The people at ACN who complain about their low pay are those "at level" or "above". Top performers are paid a lot more. Leadership has for past few years made it quite clear they will be rewarding top performers with significantly higher salaries than everyone else.
