After several months of gathering views and researching the industry I have a question which still troubles me.I am 32 and currently in the final year of a 2 year part time MBA. I have spent the last 10 years in FMCG Product Management and Sales roles in IT Consumer and before that worked for a Local Authority. I left school with 2 A'Levels but never went to University. I would like to make the move to consultancy, however would the lack of an undergraduate degree hinder my chances even though I will have an MBA and 10 years of industry experience?

I thought that an undergraduate degree was a prerequisite for a graduate degree... I am also in my second year of graduate studies (MBA), and not only did I have to have a Bachelors, I had to have an X number of coursework in a particular subject. I would assume that since you have 7 years of experience under your belt in addition to your MBA, your undergrad wouldn't matter...Good luck!

No its about YOU and how YOU can leverage your skills for your employer.Many top performers have no 'Formal' education they worked up from the floor, educated themselves and moved on.Lack of a degree hinders nobody these days, mainly due to the fact that most degrees are not worth the paper they are written on.5 years of studying 'Economics', or 6 years of being the treasurer for a company with a turnover of say just £300'000. I know which I would choose to work with me

Thanks for the feedback (it was along the same lines that I was thinking).Just to clarify, the part time MBA is spread over two years so that you can continue to work full time. You also have to complete a certificate and diploma in Business Management in the first year before progressing onto the full MBA in the 2nd year. I calculated that with work and study I am averaging 65-70 hours per week at the moment - I want to get into consultancy for a rest - lol!!Thanks again for the feedback.
