Hi There,I had a chat/interview with Molten directors the other week. I will still have some interview - they really seemed nice clued-on people. No arrogancy etc which is a great quality to find in consulting. Dont know what will happen but would be keen to join them - not only cuz they are nice but also they are expanding and profitable private company. Did you have sny interactions/interviews with them? All the Best

Thanks for your response. I actually have a job offer from them. I also found that they are very nice and very clued up. It is a v tough choice for me as I am currently working in one of the big consultancy firms and everything is going very well - there is no reason for me to leave. Only reason is that Molten is offering something different, possibly more exciting.....so am really not sure.....Best of luck with your interviews!!

Thanks Kate. I also work for a big consultancy firm at the moment so for me it would be a big change if I join them. As I said I really liked the people from Molten and that plays big part for me but as you said its a risk and a big change.I am also not sure career and money wise. Did they offer you a good package? Can you shed some light on this it might help me if I need to negotiate anything with them - feel free to mail me on river_v19@yahoo.com. Many thanks

Mmm...I was told their basic salary is only average in the industry but their bonus is amongst the highest...apparently....so the overall package should be good....

Bonus scheme is totally subjective although they are supposed to be reviewing that currently. Senior mgt looked to me to be variable.

You are very right about the top management. I took time off my current job to go for an interview with them which went very well according to Molten directors and they said they want to bring me in for further presentation, and then they just kept delaying saying they are still developing their strategy etc and then never came back to me even with explanation. And this is all after they were very impressed by me in the first interview and how I would be great addition - according to their own words. If I took time to go for an interview they should have enough decency to come back to me and say either they changed their minds about me or they dont know what a hell they r doing (more likely option). In the mean time I got and offer from 2 other consultancy companies and have joined one of them. Good for me nothing happened with Molten - Very unprofessional company and useless directors I would stay away from them

We recruited for them in the last 12 months - take everything they say with a pinch, ney a heaped teaspoon of salt. One minute they are recruiting, the next they are not and strategy is being re-defined - they are always open for interviewing, but rarely press the hire button. People who join tend to leave pretty rapidly.

I spoke with them earlier this year and was utterly astonished by the people who interviewed me. I was told I would be interviewed by the industry managing director and was interviewed by a new hire (junior - didn't know answers to my questions) and another junior (who was not my industry) consultant - pretty insulting. Neither could clearly articulate what the business was about and pretty much appeared to be nothing more than contractors with a consulting badge on. As with the other poster I took time out of my current Firm which I was not looking to leave but was curious to talk to a small firm to see what they offered. Was not impressed.

Based on a guy (managing consultant from PA) i know who took a job there, avoid. The package and bonus structure may look attractive, on paper, but that's where it'll remain. He quit after 9 months, and is doing far better elsewhere. Just my 2 cents

basically a bodyshop I am afraid. I seem to remember that they had some strange bonus scheme, which they sell hard and is based around you earning a higher percentage based around the billable days you do and the margins generated. When you looked into it closely, the numbers did not work out particularly favourably and an unacceptable part of the risk is placed onto the consultant. In a roundabout way if you are deployed constantly at a high margin you will do pretty well, if you are not (bear in mind you may not be the one negotiating the contracts) you are not so lucky. In consulting if you want to take this type of risk you might as well become a contractor. I would steer clear I am afraid. Although, yes, the people I met did seem pleasant!

They approached my company trying to sell us some work. I'm an ex-consultant myself and I must say they are a bunch of cowboys that just talk utter bull$hi*. Not surprised this spreads to their recruiting. My advice - stay well clear of them!

From the COO of Molten. I read the below thread with mixed views. As the COO of Molten one of my jobs is to protect the reputation of Molten and I feel a duty to reply. On the other hand it is the case with all successful business that people who have not been invited to join or who have partial knowledge of the business find it easy to post information anonymously and therefore it may be wiser not to respond. Using one of core principles of openness I will reply but will limit my response to 4 key points. 1.Molten’s growth has averaged 70% each year for the last 4 years which is industry leading. 2.Molten’s retention rate is over 90% per annum which is industry leading3.Molten’s client repeat rate is 100%. We have no clients who have used us just once. 4.Molten is always trying to improve. We try not to be arrogant and we treat our people and our candidates with the utmost respect. I invite e-mails by anyone who wishes to know more about us.

it is true that the embittered rejected candidate is bound to be upset but in amongst this thread (assuming that all the posters are genuine, which may not be the case) there are comments which stem directly or indirectly from business partners, ex/current employees and even a potential client. The message is consistent and does not come from just one source. I am afraid that as COO of Molten, you should get to know the realisties of your business better rather than fall back on a simplistic set of meaningless statistics.
