Hello everyone,I posted the not-very-popular thread "Deloitte Consulting S&O Practice" asking about details regarding International Permanent Transfers within Deloitte.I would like to make the question less specific in the hope that someone will answer:When is the best time to seek an International Permanent Transfer with your Firm? (which in my case is Deloitte Consulting)Thanks for your help.

My friend recently transferred into London S&O from S&O in the US. Apparently London is the easiest office to transfer into right now due to number of jobs and healthiness of the local market. Apparently, you need to be a Senior Consultant or a Consultant coming up to your SC promotion point within the year. This also tallies with my own firm's practices - although we use different titles, you can apply for transfer from around your fourth or fifth year in.

Thanks for your answer, TAB.I am actually moving into my 3rd year, hence I would be a Consultant, but not coming up to the SC promotion. Any chance there?Thank you.

Might be a bit early, but you can always have a look on the vacancies board (sorry, I can't remember the Deloitte-specific name). Also, if you have contacts in your target office, give them a bell and see what their hot recruiting areas are at the more junior end. From what I understand of how Deloitte works, you've probably worked in a few areas so you are probably still at the stage where you can spin your CV to emphasise experience relevant to a few practices if you're more bothered about getting into the location than precisely what area you work in.

I spoke with the HR people over there. They told me that it involves 2 interviews (senior manager and partner). She didnt say much about these interviews except that it would involve case studies (which sounded a bit weird to me). The process if rushed could take about one month (provided both firms agree on when to set me free/sign me up).Could someone please shed light into how this process works?Does it matter if someone from the home office knows someone in the target office? How much? What exactly does the interview seek to ascertain -working skills such as not being an idiot and so on or how good at "case studies" one is?Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

Again, based on first-hand hearsay, the interviews are pretty much a formality. My friend didn't even need to meet anyone from the London office in person (and it's not like he's particularly hot sh*t or anything - 2's and 3's for performance ratings).

TAB, thank you.HR people kinda made me think I would have to prepare business cases and hardcore interviews.I dont know if you are in London, but if you are, I'd like to invite you to a pint (when I get there!). If you dont drink - like me- lets do some tomato juice. :)Is there any advice you think i could know? Also - how many interviews did you friend do in total? How fast did the process go?Thanks

Sorry for disturbing your conversation ;-)I'm a SC from Deloitte Germany (S&O) and also thinking about internal transfer. It seems to be easy to transfer from US to UK and vice-versa. But not so easy from other country practices.Do you have an idea how a internal transfer from Germany to e.g. UK or US could be achieved. For me it currently seems a bit like a formal job application which you have to do with no real advantage of already working for Deloitte at all.Am I right?

Hi J,I believe we have certain advantages worknig in Deloitte. I havent discovered yet, because I havent made the move (I will tell you after summer, though). From what I have gathered and heard over here and at my office it tends to be relatively easy if you get someone who will tell to some other partner in the UK that you are good at your things and hard working. If anyone thinks Im wrong, please let me know...(plus the firm is moving towards international convergence, so it is in the interest of the firm to help you move around)my 2 cents only

Hi Anon,I hoped that we have these certain advantages, but I haven't discovered them either. This is why I asked the question ;-)I also hear a lot about international convergence, but with the exception of cross-border engagement I haven't experienced it yet. When I look at the possibilities which many employees at clients have, then it seems much easier for them (they are encouraged to move to different countries and to different organizational departments). Okay. So the challenge seems to get in touch with someone from UK or US which is not so easy if you are working on local engagements :-(Looking forward to your first feedback after the moveKind regardsJ
