Enjoy! On a separate note, I find the extremities of living standards in this sector fascinating. On the one hand you can be working 90 hour weeks in a grim basement doing boring work with over-competitive backstabbing colleagues for a client who couldn't care less, and on the other hand you can be sipping cocktails for 2 weeks on a white sandy beach in Barbados outside a 5 star hotel. I wonder why people don't opt for a little more moderation in the life, e.g. tone down the hours and stress and work a little, and opt for the 4 star hotel instead? The law of diminishing marginal utility suggests to me that people aren't optimising the use of their time and money?

I'd like to point out that many consultants "[work] 90 hour weeks in a grim basement doing boring work with over-competitive backstabbing colleagues for a client who couldn't care less" but still can't afford to go on holiday to Barbados for two weeks, regardless of the standard of hotel they stay in.

Yes, walking holidays are a splendid option. If you plan and organise yourself, they can be very inexpensive and you can have a very relaxing holiday even if you stay within the UK and take a couple of days holiday at a time to complete a longer route.

Go to Oistins on Thu (I think) night for the outdoor fish market and feast on the grilled marlin. And worth renting a car for a few days to take a drive up to the north-east coast.

Hello everyone. Where can I go this summer on a budget of £250? I live in London and the £250 would be per person. Basically I have very little money and need to find a relaxing and enjoyable yet very very cheap holiday. Obviously this means it is likely to be in the UK or possibly France (camping?) but I'd welcome any other suggestions. Thank you.

The Gambia is stunning, friendly and very very cheap if you do a last-minute nasty package. You don't have to stay in the hotel - hire a driver and head up-country.If you want even cheaper, try Pembrokeshire.

You can base yourself at Tenby and play on the Pembrokeshire National Park's website for trips out, or just walk/ bike along the coastal path.

Try the South Coast, in particular the South West - Dorset is gorgeous this time of year, as it Devon (good surfing too if you like that).

That must be what it costs you to hire people to sit there and pretend to like you with an attitude like that.

No it's not a joke. I'm glad you have a lot of money but I am on quite a tight budget, I have to live within my means
