This is just soooo useful. Here's another equally forensic demographic survey: are you currently using a computer of any description?

Why the focus on age?Consulting is such an un-reconstructed industry. It is illegal to make age a factor when considering a candidate so why the focus on it in this forum? You may as well ask people which racial group they see themselves as belonging to. Bunch of ar$e.

Just for information I suppose. You can't argue that age isn't at least a little correlated with experience.

Yes, I hear that they don't look at the "date of birth" section on one's CV any more. Instead, they just compare candidates in terms of experience (which they measure in years). That's why you see so many 27 year-old managing consultants (even though in my opinion a lot of these kids could do a better job than the old duffers).Reminds me of how a lof of them say they are a 'meritocracy' but in the same breath emphasise that you need "good internal networking and social skills".Or how call centres record calls "for training and marketing purposes".

Age is easily calculated from year of graduation etc anyway, so leaving off the dob is fairly pointless. But is I had £1 for every MC who contacts me trying to tell me that their 30 odd years of experience automatically qualifies them for senior roles over - frankly often more talented and charismatic younger ones - I'd have (counts change in his pocket...) £9.00 today.
