Hi there,I have just graduated with an economics degree, from a top tier school in the US of A. I am looking for consulting opportunities, and very excited about the prospects and the number of job postings in the UK. However, before I get too excited....I am also a little confused. I am a Canadian citizen, willing to relocate, but will the firm sponsor me for the UK??? What is the norm in the top graded consulting firms? Would appreciate your advise.

Don't need a VISA to work here - we also accept Mastercard, Solo, Switch, American Express...You should look into getting an independent visa to work here so you are not tied to the company you join in case you decide to move on. I suspect most of the big consulting firms will not sponsor a visa for a raw graduate - you would need to have skills that cannot be found locally from a UK national in order to qualify for a working visa anyway.Or do an MBA - they have automatic HSMP status.

The larger firms will normally state on their website whether they sponsor work permits. Otherwise, you can drop an email to HR or a general recruiting contact at that firm, mentioning briefly your background and level you're thinking of applying to, and ask whether they sponsor permits. It is usually a straightforward yes/no policy so you should find out fairly easily.
