So, I called, and guess what I hear..."The positions have been filled, the candidates chosen, and in a nutsehell we do not anticipate any hiring in the next few months".Why on earth cannot they simpley update their websites, and ensure that peoplel know well in advance the expected, and not waste the candidate's time. YOUR THOUGHTS????

Well, any advert that I suspect has been around for a while or have limited vacancies, I always call to confirm...life is a learning experience...take heart

And why get aggressive on the ‘your thoughts’ bit? I don’t know if I want to post any more…

He's angry, and rightly so. There's nothing worse than spending hours carefully crafting letters and filling out lengthy behavioural-style application forms, only to find out it was a 'phantom' vacancy or they're also interviewing another 250,000 candidates for the 2 positions on offer.

They leave the adverts up:a) on the offchance some amazing candidate wants to send in their CV - in this case the firm may hire opportunisticallyb) because it's a hassle to get IT to take down and put back up the advertc) so it looks like the firm is always growing and thriving - it's the same situation when companies come to career fairs just to keep their brand image alive even in the years they aren't hiring
