HelloDoes anyone have any ideas on what temp jobs I could do before I start with a consulting firm in August? I am bashing my head against a brick wall when it comes to how to get a paid job for 4-8 weeks..help!!

Pub jobs can be pretty fun.

I went to Ibiza and got a job promoting a club night. It was pretty good in 1999. Don't know what the equivelent is now but I'm sure you could have some fun. A friend was doing an intern at morgan stanley; I was sleeping during the day. Given, his may look better on the CV but we're all real people here and we'd both already secured our jobs.

Wine dealers are always screaming out for shop/ delivery staff as it's coming up to bbq season!

You are about to give up your social life, your freedom, any sense of normality and enter into a world where you will be working during hours of the day you had never seen sober. Get the credit card out and do a tour of your friends and family. You will not be seeing them for a couple of years....

Thanks - I am an experienced hire and would have usually picked up a day rate contract for a few months but in this case I cannot secure a contract for such a short duration..Interesting assumption though, that I was a wet behind the ear grad..;)

If you're not, why not just go on a big holiday, like an earlier post suggested?

get a life, get a loan, go and travel, you have a job to come back to and will pay off the loan. You will regret it if you don't take the opportunity. A few years down the line you will have money but no free time and will look back on an opportunity to go travelling and wish you had taken it before you got on the corporate treadmill. You don't need much money to go travelling, once you have your air fare paid you can live very cheaply. it's a no brainer really. You cam always borrow off a credit card, yes it's expensive but what's a few grand. It's nothing these days. You can only do these things when you are young(ish).

Is this for the money then? If it was for the fun then you could have looked at lending a hand to any one man band consultants you might know, although I doubt they’d pay you too well. It could be an interesting way of getting some experience of a project in a totally different sector.

ThanksI have already put the feelers out to my existing network but there is nothing out there for such short duration. Its purely for the money that I need to get something for 4-8 weeks.
