Working long hours and doing a stressful job takes its toll. Please, let's share tips about how to cope with the physical demands of the job including fatigue and eye strain in particular. Let's focus on dealing with the day to day grind, so suggestions such as 'take a holiday' aren't an option.Anything just so I can get by without feeling so freaking drained and exhausted all the time.

Droopy - my top suggestion for stressed out consultants would be to stop worrying about work / bonus / life. Anyone that allows themselves to worry about stuff will lead a miserable existence as a consultant. There are always client deadlines to meet, the risk that you might be asked to work a weekend when you've got something fabulous planned, fears that you've not met the expectations of the Partner on the project, going to miss out on promotion / bonus, etc.Funny thing is, if you stop and write down all the things that have worried you in the last year and then cross out all the things that never actually materialised - well you'll probably find that you spent ages worrying about things that never came to pass.If you refuse to give yourself sleepless nights and high blood pressure worrying about this kind of stuff, I guarantee you'll immediately find everything a whole lot more enjoyable and less stressful. If you know the author Dale Carnegie (author of "How to win friends and influence people"), one of his titles addresses this topic and is called "How to Stop Worrying and Start Living". I read this early in my career and it was a life changer!Hope this helpsTony RestellTop-Consultant.com

You may be a little anaemic - I get it time to time and it runs in my family; usual symptoms are extreme fatique. You can treat it quickly with an iron product, I use one called ironace, which you get get in boots, superdrug etc - orange and white box. Drink in orange juice to get it into your system quickly. Works wonders.

Make an effort to eat & drink as healthily as possible, get your vitamins and iron as the other poster suggested. I always feel worse and particularly get eye strain when I try to go too long without eating. For example, you can buy a load of longlife juice so you always have something on hand even when you're busy. Also, try to get some exercise even if it's only walking part of the way to/from work and taking the stairs when you're there. Finally, try to cultivate a good team atmosphere or hang around with people who are feeling more positive on a given day. It drains everyone's energy when there's a stressed atmosphere, and similarly good feelings are contagious.
