Hello,I'm interested in strategic consulting but I'm concerned that my short-term career path might make it difficult. Some background on me:I just finished undergrad with a BA marketing/communications this winter, and I'm interning at a digital marketing agency that may hire me full-time. My boss founded the data-driven agency 15 years ago (way ahead of his time in terms of big data and marketing analytics), he is a former MBB consultant, and the agency is one of the fastest growing marketing agencies in the US right now. I also interned for a smaller strategic consulting firm in my city for 6 months, less than 5 people, but former Accenture and IBM consultants. After 3-5 years of full-time experience, I would like to get an MBA, hopefully at a top-10 school (the GPA may be a concern though, 3.4, but 4.0 my last 3 semesters). I would like to have some sort of consulting role before my MBA, but it would most likely be a marketing consulting role at a marketing agency. I would most likely do a "double major" in my MBA program in marketing and strategy, but I'm not 100% sure how the curriculum works. My questions:A) Is it realistic for someone with this path to become a strategic consultant post-MBA? Do marketing consultants at marketing/ad agencies get accepted to top-10 MBA programs?B) Which fields of business would you think compliment a digital marketing background the most? I love business strategy, but I'm interested in operations mgmt.C) What can I practice/study in my free time to optimize my chances of becoming a strategic management consultant and/or top-10 MBA (certifications, literature, training, online courses, networking, etc.)? D) An MBB consultant told me they "look to the ad agencies for marketing stuff". Does anyone here have experience with marketing agencies? What consulting opportunities are there for marketing MBAs (whether strategic firm or mktg agency)?Thank you very much for any help at all. As I lurk the other threads I am captivated by the mass intelligence on this board. I plan on visiting often!
