Hey all, I am looking to do an MBA next year and am just getting my ducks in a row. I will be applying to LBS, Warwick, Oxford, Imperial, Cass and should get multiple offers with an eye on getting recruited into management consulting as a post-mba hire.My questions are:I will be 35 when I graduate but have quite a few years in hospitality management running large nightclubs/hospitality programs. How much do the recruiters for MBB care about age? I am used to 80 hour weeks in international enviornments so shouldnt have any problem keeping up to the younger guys but am just wondering about any ageism that might be out there. How much travel in your best guesstimate % is required for post-mba associates in the first few years as a new hire based in London? Thanks for any thoughts!

Good grief. Now just why would you want to do an MBA at the ripe old age of 35?It's a lot of debt to take on, dude. Are you sure the payoff will be worth it? You may well say "yes" - but I would urge you to really think about it before you make that commitment. And regarding MBB - and I mean this in the nicest possible way - if they wouldn't recruit you when you were in your 20s, they're probably not going to recruit you now (Cass MBA or no Cass MBA).

Malcolm,My utterly unfair view not knowing anything about you other than what you wrote here: no matter where you get your MBA, you will not get into ANY reputable management consultancy at the age of 35 with a background in event management, let alone MBB.A painful truth perhaps, but not as painful as ending up in £xxk debt for the same salary you started from. Not trying to be negative here, just genuinely think you'd be wasting your money. If I were you, I would reconsider.
