Hey guysI am a medical doctor and have recently completed my residency in Radiology. I got admits for the MBA programs at HEC Paris and Oxford SBS.My short term goal is to get into MBB for a consulting stint (couple of years), preferably focused on healthcare consulting and from there I want to move on to starting up my own venture.Though HEC and SBS are not INSEAD and LBS, these are the only options that I have.Could you guys please suggest which school should I attend keeping in my mind the goals above. Also, what can I do to maximize my chances of getting into MBB while I am at one of these schools. Thanks in advance!P.S. - Please be nice guys.

I'd go to the one that you feel most comfortable with... it's important that you enjoy your time there so go with gut instinct...

Thanks for your reply.I am getting a scholarship at HEC and feel more comfortable with the idea of going to HEC.Can I also please request you to share your experience and point of view about MBB hiring doctors?I read that McKinsey actively seeks to recruit doctors.I am not presuming that the ride to MBB would be any easier for me, but will the MD + HEC MBA combination make me more employable at these firms? What can I do during my time at HEC to maximize my chances of ending up at one of these firms? Thanks!

Well they are certainly usually keen on getting in PhD's, as a PhD from a top institute shows that this person is very logical and and good at project management.Maximise chances: network! Getting somebody to hand over you CV to a recruiter is very powerful. Also, join a consultancy club and practice case studies ASAP, as an MD I would presume you haven't practiced your quantitative skills as much as e.g. a physicist.

Have you tried applying directly to MBB? You don't actually need to have an MBA to get a job at MBB so if your main reason for doing it is to land consulting job, think carefully if it's worth it.McKinsey hires doctors directly without business experience and they typically join at Junior Associate level. Whilst I was there in the London office there were 15+ ex-doctors and I think only one or two had done an MBA.______________________I started a blog about consulting and what it's like at www.theconsultingcoach.com

Did you already go the HEC Consulting Club? I think they have a special deal with preplounge.com, which is a platform that helps you prepare for the consulting case interview. You can get premium membership at Preplounge if you're a member of the consulting club.
