I've been working for EY in TSRS (IT audit) for the past 3 years (started on the grad scheme).How difficult would it be to find work as an IT consultant with Deloitte, ACN, PA?My interests are in info. security.I'd also like some international travel.Given my background, which firms should I be considering?Thanks

Without more information on your background, I can only suggest that an EY background would be generally suitable for any of the firms you mention. Presumably you are thinking of developing as an information security expert then transferring in with that as your main role. This would be easier than trying to demonstrate the generalist IT skills required to enter to a more junior consulting role.You might find it easiest to fit into Deloitte. You might find in Accenture that info security is an adjunct to SI so you are able to work on fewer info. security-specific projects.In fact the best info security practices often sit outside the "consulting" division - as at EY, with TSRS, and Deloitte at TA&A.

I'd rather not say where from. It's not a very big group. It's just too anodyne and comatose for me. I've got two offers. Probably will end up at ACN.

IT Audit is not something I want to be doing forever.Prefer the variety in project work in consulting.

This incessant 'living our values’ talk at EY drives me nuts. Being indoctrinated with this bull is bad for me.. I'm a cynic. Dog-eat-dog consultancy - bring it on...

its pathetic. there must be someone up there that thinks its a really good idea... I work in PE and when i get EY coming to me with thier diversity team chemistry slide they make me laugh so hard inside its hard to keep a straight face

I can understand why you’d want out of EY.Here in BAS, they’ve have pushed hard on this chemistry thing recently with the rapid growth in staff numbers.Still, though, things are pretty miserable. There are some great people here, but some really really awful ones as well, particularly in the senior roles. Over time hopefully, they can be rooted out.I know BAS have a reputation as being mainly ex-IBM and ex-Accenture political clones, and while that’s not completely true, the atmosphere is pretty awful.Your skill set would be well regarded by the firms you’ve listed. I’d urge caution on joining Accenture though – think frying pan and fire !!!Good luck in whatever you decide.
