Hi I have about 3 years operational experience in the Hospitality Industry and have a degree in Hotel Management. I am interested in a career switch to consulting preferably in Hospitality and Leisure. Will my qualifications and industry experience help to make the switch or MBA is the best route? Thanks Aagman.

I think PKF have a strong practice in consultancy to hotels. If you are moving into a hotel management consultancy role you can probably leverage your existing experience. If you want to go into other sectors an MBA may be beneficial. It all depends on exactly what level your experience is at. You'd pretty much need 2-3 years management experience to join as an experienced hire, as graduate opportunities in these practices are relatively scarce.

Hospitality and leisure are surely relevant, but I believe that if you can expand or market your knowledge into one or more additional industries, you would be more successful. What is related to hospitality and leisure? Transportation (i.e. airlines) is surely related, as is customer service (many related applications here). Try to think beyond your degree and current experience. Consulting firms target every industry... just look at their websites. Your skills go well beyond hospitality and leisure.
