Are salary scales different for consulting in Scotland (i.e. lower)? If so, by how much?

Sure, although I mentioned 11.48% the precise figure was 11.4783% except in Aberdeen where it was 11.4641%. Obviously the figures are changing with market conditions but I'm happy to post the updates here from time to time.

A quick Google search reveals that there is indeed a salary differential -- this is for FS, but the story in professional services is probably similar:"Whereas four years ago, you may have seen a 30-40% differential in pay when compared to London, now the gap is only 15-20% - and candidates have the benefits of a much better work life balance. Many Scots who have trained in London are now returning here to continue their careers leaving what many perceive as the gruelling pace of London behind. We are also seeing an influx of candidates from European locations such as Amsterdam, Luxemburg and Scandinavia who are choosing Scotland above London as their preferred route to gaining international experience."www.s1jobs.com/recruiterprofiles/parker/ppb-salary-survey.pdf

Many thanks to Scottish Consulting Market Expert for such precise figures. Is Aberdeen lower because it's freezing and only has one street, namely Union St(I think). Hoever they do have some nice bars and some affy nice women

PA Consulting pays London wages in Scotland, but works a global resource pool so you could be working anywhere despite being nominally being based in Glasgow.

That's basically the appeal, do the same work with the same clients but be based in Scotland instead of London for the weekend.I'll look into PA thanks.

Believe that most firms will pay you the same regardless of your home address. Certainly the case here at Capgemini. Expect to be away from home during the week though.
