Hi guys,I have recently been given a chance in an equity research role with a small-ish outfit. It sounds quite promising and may give me the chance to specialise in the sector which I have a doctorate in. Does anyone know if:1) This could lead to exit options in consulting later on?2) What the career progression in general would be (not strictly a consulting thread, but I'm sure you guys will be able to answer it....)Answers would be most appreciated.

Thanks Tony, that's very helpful.To be honest my gameplan is to get into a role where I can build upon the knowledge gained in my PhD by working in that sector in either a finance or consulting role. Obviously there are differences between these and pros and cons, which I am aware of. However, it is very valuable to know that transferring from equity research to consulting isn't necessarily easy.Thanks again,V

A common-ish move from what ive seen. Certainly if you come in as an industry specialist, though there will always be question at interviews on your problem solving/consulting skills, but then im sure you know this.
