do companies check offers from others??I got a final round at a strat. house next week. This all went very fast, and I haven't really started off with other companies. Also my cv isn't that strong. in between 1st and 2nd tier grad position. got the first rond talk at this MBB through my personal network. I will except an offer from this company. and will get extremely drunk the same day.So if they ask about 'the others', what best to say:- I got first round talks at other mbb (lie). then it comes to the original question: will they check: now or later on through their freinds at the other companies- I got offers from 2nd tier (true)- You guys are so fast I haven't managed to get into rouns with other mbb's, but will sign with you anyway (desperate).

I doubt they'll check externally - they employ hundreds of people a year and they're not going to compare employee lists with their buddies!I seem to remember this question being asked on the forum before and getting a good response. Think I used one of the suggestions. Play with the search function or spend some time scrolling down.Good luck.

Seems to me the question is irrelevant. Strat firms can afford to be arrogant when it comes to pay scales anyway, as they typically outscale everyone and besides, the kudos alone is worth a few quid. If asked, just tell them that you have only the 1 application, and its with them, because you know where you want to be and its with this firm - anything else at this point would be a compromise.Or else just tell them you have other applications in the pipeline which are progressing but you don't see them as being contenders should this firm offer.
