Are Pirlo and Beng one and the same?

I've been amazed at the type of arrogant rubbish occasionally posted on here by Pirlo. Thought I'd look all his contrubutions up to get a more complete idea of Pirlo's delusion, but found a number of threads on a search for "Pirlo" where that worthy does not appear.Beng, however, does appear on these threads! Curious, no?The type of holier-than-thou "you are not worthy" rhetoric spouted by these two does bear a certain similarity as well. Here's my theory: the system tracks users not by HANDLE, but by EMAIL address.Am I crazy, or could it be that Beng and Pirlo are just cover for the same person?

Perhaps a mars a day is also the same person and he/she is having a long conversation with him/herself through this forum. Maybe there are only 3 or 4 people contributing at all and they are trying to shape perception by posting certain types of message. Maybe Pirlo is not actually a consultant but is trying to enhance the stereotype of how a consultant communicates. Will we ever know...... ?

This thread is non-sense and forum-members would be well advised to not get into this sort of comments. It really devalues the importance of may other thought-provoking, interesting or helpful posts.I just hope this thread will get deleted soon.

Pleb,This system does NOT track users at all. Unlike Vault.com, anyone can use any handle in this Board. There's no log-on/off procedure that ensures/verifies identity. Several of the posts attributed to me, for example, were not made by me at all. -The Real BengPS. No, I'm not Pirlo. However, I have made posts using another pseudonym, as the handle "Beng" carries with it a lot of baggage, some positive, some less so. PPS. The only reason I log into this Board is to actually try to help people. It only takes 10 minutes every week or so...so not a significant investment in time. I didn't go into a Ivy undergrad, and I didn't have blue-chip work experience prior to Bschool. However, I've gotten plenty of GREAT advice in my day, which enabled me to get into a top 10 Bschool, leading to the position I currently hold at an MBB firm. I actually "LIVED" my own advice. So what worked for me, will hopefully for you some of you, too.

Wouldn't it be better if the forum has some sort of authentication to avoid user name hijackers and Trojan horses? Tony this is for your attention.Dan

In answer to the suggestion that we insist on having contributors identified / authenticated, here's the crunch of the issue -- how may of you would really say what you honestly think of the places you work - or your views on the recent round of bonuses / pay rises - if you knew that you were doing so under the watchful eye of your employer?I suspect that a lot of the frank exchanges of experience / advice would be killed off if we removed the anonymity that the current system provides...Tony RestellTop-Consultant.com

Tony, I'm not sure I agree. I would be shocked if most people on this board didn't have a private e-mail address that could be used for authentication purposes. I participate in a number of online forums and have never had a problem. Moreover, provided you kept the e-mail addresses private, I don't see why using company e-mail addresses for verification purposes wouldn't work, either. Though my email address may be John.Smith@McBainGroup.com, only you would know that.To the rest of the world, I'd still be an idiot. But at least other posters would know which idiot they were talking to.

Whoa whoa whoa VI. Firstly let me say I'm 100% in agreement with what you're aspiring to - a nice authenticated board where people can't 'fake' usernames etc. However, 2 issues arise:1. This could deter the casual poster - the guys who have something interesting to say but can't be bothered to fill out a form and respond to 'confirmation e-mails' to register.2. The idea of having to submit any personally-identifiable info for registration purposes - e.g. a company e-mail address, real name, even a personal e-mail account - is a bit of a turn-off. Sure you can make up a name and register via a throwaway hotmail account, but this is a lot of hassle. Also, if I worked for McBain as an insecure 20-something and had to use my McBain account, there's not a chance that I would say anything even remotely contentious about the firm. In fact I'd probably do the opposite and be overly flattering about them, just in case 'big brother' was watching. This would be true even if there were all sorts of 'personal information security' safeguards in place - I'm a cynical character and just don't trust those kinds of assurances, even from a very reputable site like this one.I love this forum and the characters that use it, you guys brighten my day. It's great for getting things off my chest and sharing experiences. I think its success largely depends on us all having a shared interest and actually wanting to keep it a useful place for sharing knowledge/advice/ideas.

What about...
03.04.7 00:00

Could we not have both? Then students and the like that frequent this forum could know that the advice from a few people who have proved themselves not to be full of $hit all the time is genuine, and not some snidster making a subtle joke. Which they obviously wouldn’t get, or they wouldn’t ask the question in the first place. If I wanted to tell everyone not to go to firm X as Mr Smith the manager like to touch on new analysts, then I could do it under the guest guise. Surely it would be easy to implement? It could even be as easy as a tick-box on the reply/new message screen to post as a guest, instead of your usual username.
