Pls share experiences and tips for how to change jobs... step by step guide please... I don't want to get bitten in the process! What are common pitfalls etc? I like where I am but it just doesn't pay the going rate. I'm 30 yrs old, 9 years strat/IT experience. Criteria (in order of importance):1. Don't want to end up in a sweatshop environment.2. Minimal international travel (but around UK is fine, as is odd day here and there in Europe)3. Decent pay4. Ideally, no bridges burnt

* Prime your network by mentioning to your contacts that you're looking for new opportunities.* Register with half a dozen reputed/specialist agencies.* Set out clearly in your own mind what you're looking for (any job content criteria, as well as the quality of life criteria).* Start by being slightly less selective/more open minded about the roles recruiters bring to you - attend 5-10 interviews for "practice" until you're back up to speed (amount of practice you'll want to do depends how long it's been since you last applied for a new job).* Once comfortable with your interview technique, be more selective about the opportunities you go for.
