Hi there,I was just wondering if anyone had been through the interview process for deloitte consulting in Spain. I have an interview coming up in march for their graduate scheme, and was wondering if anyone could give me any tips. Is it similar to the UK graduate interview process? Any other information regarding deloitte in Spain would be greatly appreciated.CheersMark

Hi Mark, I left it recently, so I might be able to help you...Two years ago DC was an independent company mainly focused on IT projects (though it had a small group doing S&O).It then merged with Deloitte. Two big groups were created:- Consulting: it runs IT (implementations) and S&O project (80% operations as far as I know).- Application & IT Solutions (DxD): this is where the techies work. Focused on pure development and outsourced support projects.Make sure which group is interviewing you!Not sure about the process thoughIf you want some more info post your email and I'll contact you.KRSOP

Hi SOP, thanks for your reply. I think I may have to email HR to find out who will be interviewing me as the job offer was very vague. As mentioned, in their email they describe the position as a Junior Consultant, and in the online offer it details some of the tasks (roughly translated to):System planningOptimisation of processes and supportStrategy plansApplying IT for businessesI was wondering where you worked in Spain and what you thought of it compared to working in England. My email is md2141@bris.ac.ukAny help or advice you could give would be great.RegardsMark

hi jon, well, I havent worked in the UK so I wouldnt know. There have been people here on temporary tranfers and they have always said that hours are longer. It depends which dept you join, though. But I'd say there are 90 hour peaks from time to time. It also depends how your boss is.I have heard a bunch of times that work hours are longer here, because they are less efficient.

Hi Mark,I work in Spain as a SAP consultant. I've never worked in england so i cannot compare both situations but i'll try to answer some of your questions:salary: junior consultant position-around 24k-30k€ (always depending on your exp) hours/week: it depends on many things but i'll tell u about me - 47/50h/w avg with peaks (could be between 70-80h/w)I'd like to know how is it in england. I had always heard that we work longer hours here but reading some posts i really doubt about it... Could you give me an idea?thx

Hello Iks,Thanks for the information you posted. Unfortunately, as I'm new to the profession I can't really tell you about consultancy in England but maybe someone else can help.Do you know what I should expect of the selection process (it is in Valencia)? Thanks,Mark

Hi Mark,I don't know anything about this process you're talking about so i cannot really help you. There is sthg that i think could help you. If you really want to get a good experience in consulting in Spain i don't thi k valencia is the right place. I guess you must know there are two big business ponits in Spain: Madrid and Barcelona. In any of these 2 cities you would be involved in great projects with an international scope. Also the best consultants in Spain are in Barcelona and madrid so if your goal consists basically on developing your skills you should try to sorround yourself with top professionals. So, in conclusion:Barcelona/Madrid:Big international projectsTop consultants involvedMore money (nothing comparing to UK)Valencia:Local projectsLocal consultants (lower level and efficiency)Less moneySorry if i've been too clear... That's only my opiniion (based on exp though...)Good luck!

Hello Iks,Thanks for your honest opinions, they have been very helpful.I understand what you say about Madrid and Barcelona being the business centers of Spain, however due to personal reasons I am looking to work in Valencia - I just hope the salary isn't too low.Could you explain to me about the types of projects that are undertaken in Valencia? Thanks again,Mark
