Hi again,Just read an interesting post from bingobango and I though I could ask about it further without hijacking the thread. He said that many experienced hires are given "on the nod and the wink". Now, i know someone (:) ), I know someone who wants to get a permanent transfer from within Deloitte across different countries. Most specifically, to the UK.Now, can that person, who has a 3-yr experience- do that jump avoiding the hassle of the applications, exams, case studies and all that, by asking the people from his firm to call some partner in the UK and "sell him" to them?I was wondering too, bingobango, your definition for "experienced", or if you could please elaborate on joining a firm while avoiding that long (many times random) process. Also, in general, i hoped some other experienced consultants around here could give a few tips about how to avoid the recruitment people. Thanks a lot. :)

Yes, my mate's just done that with a similar amount of experience. Moved from DC strategy in Canada to the UK after just one interview. They didn't have an internal recommendation - just applied through the online job posting. Although they're my mate, they're not the hottest consulting property to be fair.

I had a friend (manager) at ACN recommend me, but was definitely put through my paces during the interviews. No nods and winks there. Another friend he recommended didn't make it. I respect that and feel better about being hired on my own merits. ACN seems to mean it about being a meritocracy. I think that's cool.
