Any old bean counter can cut costs. Let's make our sales reps turn up in 1995 Ford Escorts instead of 2005 BMWs. Lets stop our consultants using mobile phones. Lets replace our laptops every 5 years instead of every 3. Let's screw our suppliers into the ground to the point where they provide us with shoddy customer service because we're not worth hanging on to.Doesn't exactly help the business though does it?

Though obviously you're not going to engage them to work on anything critical. This is more for procurement issues where the client doesn't have dedicated staff or doesn't have time to do cost comparisons across suppliers for their commodities. Rather than worrying about the cost of paperclips all the time, you get this firm in every couple of years to do an audit.
