Hey all, I have been offered BSI in Accenture and Mobilisation Outsourcing. I know the general differences in work and focus, but am still unsure about which one to choose. I never applied for Outsourcing, I just applied to BSI but now it is being offered, only 25 days holiday but paid overtime...hmm lots to consider, if anyone can give me an opinion i would be very grateful. career progresion?

2 very interesting career models.depends wat u really looking for from ur career..Mobilisation will demand for u to interact with ur offshoring centres to offshore work to the delivery centres. this means u have to have the requirements from ur client and search for resources, ensure that the right governance is in place, and the milestones agreed with the client are met, you will also be involved in collaboratively working with the delivery centres for knowledge transfer. - exciting and very challenging role... as u get to see both sides of the coin, i.e. onshore and offshore - great learning.BSI - well its systems integration!! :) am sure u did ur research before u applied.

Thank you Piush..at last one reply! I appreciate it.I actually think that I will probably enjoy consulting for ACN Outsourcing, the thing is I am worried about the career progression, I hear that people in Outsourcing get paid less and promotions are not so good, I dont know how true this is in ACN, afterall we are all considered to be Consultants still. I am also thinking hard about tranferable skills for the future.. more advice please Piush! and can you tell me what you do?

I'm dropping a comment in at a tangent here but...A lot of consultants get hacked off because they come in expecting to do short strategy-only projects and end up staffed to long-term strategy & implementation sourcing projects. After all, over recent years that's where the work has been. At least if you join Mobilisation you know what you're getting and, as you're a dedicated resource for that division rather than being pulled in from elsewhere, the resourcing managers are more inclined to staff you to the interesting bits of sourcing projects.

hey dude, you need to think about the best transferable skills to pick up in your first years, hmmm..BSI will give you some technical skills which Mobilisation will not, but Mobilisation should give you more management skills....and not sure if overtime pay is a good thing or not, maybe that means that you have to do alot of overtime. But I hear that in BSI working overtime is very normal too!

Following on from New Analyst's question... Once in Accenture, how easy is it to move from BSI for example to another role, maybe more focused on business consulting or even a leap across to Strategy. Areas are just examples, question is focused more on how transferable the skills are internally. I think this could have an impact on new analyst, as the skills that enable a change in direction after 2 years are surely the choice for starters...
