well, well, as an ex-PwC my first questio would be... what do they really mean by strategy? the bug consulting firms (PwC, KPMG, Capgemini, Accenture...) they talk a lot about strategy but they mostly do operational consulting.just be aware of that as you may be a bit dissapointed later.when it comes to salary, bonus... i would say they are all more or less the same (sorry, not Capgemini, they are famous for paying less)so, i don't know, if I had an offer from a smaller firm but purely strategic, I would go for that. If you don't then, it may be a good start

Thanks for the advice so far guys.Delboy, the starting salary is £34K + £5K sign on.Do you think that due diligence and M&A advisory work at PwC would allow me to move into P/E directly in a few years time or would I need a top MBA first?Thanks,cam_grad

Just be aware that PE is a tiny pool of people compared to consulting. Not to say it is impossible to get into but what you are talking about is equivalent to asking if it is possible to move to Man United after a spell at another premier club. Of course it is possible but at the end of the day Man U only have 11 players.

Hey jj,Thanks for that, I like the analogy.Looks like I'll have to focus on doing some excellent work whilst at PwC.Are there any other insiders that have any opinions on PwC Strategy? Particularly any disadvantages of working there?Thanks,cam_grad

I'm interested in PwC strat for next yr. I think unless you want to be a consultant all your life, many of these firms are a foot in to open many future doors. So what if they are primarily an audit firm? They are doing well in their specialist area (P/E) -yes it is mainly CDD, but it seems to becoming more pure strat. once your there for a couple of years, you can move onto bigger and better things...right..?

hey,How would people compare PWc Strategy with Deloitte Strategy, for starters the pay seems to be much better at PWC (going by the figures quoted on this board 34k +5k for PWC vrs 30.5k and 1.5K at Deloitte for grads) but what about the rest of it hours, type of work, reputation etc

How would PwC Strategy compare against another strategy firm like LEK that also does a lot of transactions based work?

No one got anything else to say about PwC Strategy?I thought they'd be a lot of consultants here who'd been involved in CDD and M&A Advisory!

I do CDD at a big 4 and have left the office past midnight already twice this week - so perhaps that's why you don't see too many DD consultants on this board...

Another reason few people of that background are on here is that transactions work isn't consulting, it's accounting.

Cons

With regards to transaction work being accounting and not consulting, I have to agree and want to make the move to an accountancy house to enter transaction services.Question: After a grad scheme working in the strat department of a full service consultancy house, will I have to start at the very bottom in transaction services at Big 4 or will my experience count for something and lift me half a notch above a 21 year old straight from uni? Aim is to work towards ACA?

Are you guys aware that M&A consulting is not only financial due diligence? So whatsoever does it have to do with accounting.

To come back to the original question, this is about PwC, so the discussion is just talking about the work they do. There are of course other important aspects to M,A&D.
