people just might be too busy to write in - playing in the snow perhaps...got through to Consulting/BSI myself and decided to take it on as most of the large clients now look for firms that offer end-to-end services rather than the sell-and-run approach practiced by most strat houses. In this regard, I consider BSI as key in fusing business transformation through re-engineering processes underpined by solid systems integrations i.e. ERP, CRM, SCM...I realise this response may be a bit one-dimentional as I wasn't faced with a choice between BSO and Outsourcing. So apologies for that. But off the top of my head, your roles will be tagged some where to the overall consulting engagement - perhaps at the end where they simply shift a 'non-core' function to one of their Delivery Centres (e.g. India).I'm afraid that's all the value I can add to this thread at this stage. I'm still waiting to join the firm. But happy to elaborate on any of the above over email/phone.Again, keep at it and I'm sure some others will contribute.Best-A

Hey AkThanks for the input mate, yeah its hard to decide. Outsourcing is definitely getting bigger and bigger so maybe one can learn alot in this area especially now. But i did hear something about ppl working in Outsourcing getting paid less? wouldnt know why that is or how true?? And also I think that Mobilisation will entail more travel which I am not keen on, but the work does sound more enjoyable.. I hear BSI analysts spend most of their time testing, testing...and more testing.Anyway mate, hope you got to enjoy the snow, I had a great snowball fight hehe..COM ON U OTHERS COMMENT PLS!

I agree that outsourcing is a becoming key to all fortune 500 type clients. Even though Accenture is some times slated here for pushing outsourcing too much.Regardless of the area you join, the role is what you make of it. If testing is a necessary step to gaining an appreciation of the entire process, then it's something that you should do. I agree that it's too much if you end up doing it over many projects. Anyway, I'd probably check back with HR and see if they've got more detail that could help you decide. Perhaps even an email to the HR person/manager/senior exec who interviewed you. I'm sure they'll be more than happy to elaborate. All the best!

Be aware that Accenture Services are now known as "outsourcing". There are three workstreams - Consulting (highly paid, well educated, long hours, mobile, up or out), Solutions (technology focussed, lower pay, mobile) and Services/Outsourcing (lower pay, fixed location, usually on one assignment for long periods).

Thanks ACN Manager for the input, I am told Mobilisation is the consulting arm of Outsourcing, definitely a consulting role....so does this fall in Consulting, or Services/Outsourcing? and what do you mean by Up or Out?I just want to know if I will earn less money in the long run in Mobilisation compared to BSI, I know they both start on the same pay.Cheers

GradMobilisation is not part of Consulting - it is not new and has been around for some time. It is part of the Outsourcing business. Think of it this way - when ACN take on an outsourcing contract, there is an initial setup period that will potentially also include some transformation work (Consulting type work) and there is then the ongoing Service operation (i.e. running the service). Mobilisation folk are typically deployed to programmes at the start of the contract for a finite period of time, and work closely with Consultants. The difference between Mobilisation and the rest of the outsourcing business is that in mobilisation you are contracted as being project based -no specific role (again, like Consulting) - you move from project to project. In Outsourcing you are contracted for one role. If that role ends, then you have to reapply for a new role in the firm. Services Mobilisation has different T&Cs to Consulting that mean a better work-life balance, despite the work being of a similar type. That said, the entry criteria for Consulting is higher.Hope that helps. Rambled on a bit, sorry.

HI Acn Senior managerThanks for the input, you didnt ramble at all..it was very interesting even though, still not that clued up because everyone is saying different things. I have been told that its a consulting role but now i hear what you are saying, and I checked the role online and have seen accenture advertising for this graduate role, actually they ask for the same same requirements..320 ucas and min 2:1. The overtime pay seems to be a bonus because alot of BSI ppl I have spoken to say they work long hours. I would be gutted if I have opted for an area inferior to BSI,less future pay/promotions, because i have been researching this for ages and waited for replies on this forum not getting much luck. I went for mobilisation in the end...hope I dont regret it.please reply if you have any further input..thanks.
