Consulting can potentially offer a faster-moving environment with less structure/bureaucracy than roles in industry. Potentially, you get greater variety in consulting in terms of the projects you work on, organisations you work with, and roles you can play. There is potential to deal with more decision-makers at the client than you would otherwise.I preface all these statements with the word "potentially" as there are many examples where individual companies in industry will beat individual firms in consulting on these points. For example, working in "industry" at a big investment bank could be faster-moving than working at a small manufacturing consultancy. If you're on a high-potential leadership track in industry you will get more variety than if you're on a three year implementation project with an outsourcing/consultancy firm.Best to weigh up each offer/job advert on its own merits and ask the potential employers what routes other people who joined with your experience profile have followed.
