Hi All, I am currently a consultant in a Big 4, with 6 years of experience in change management. I am interested in making a move to private equity - particular firms of interest are Macquarie and Permira. Can anyone suggest the correct approach? Has anyone dealt with these two companies in particular? How hard is it to get in?Am I right to think that its probably just as hard to get in to these firms as it is to a big 4? Just with more technical case studies at interview level?Any advice would be appreciated!

I would also like to know this: is it hard? I am about to start with Deloitte in thier strategy practice as a grad - what chances do I have to move to somewhere like Macquarie after a few years ( possibly MBA?)

When I was a boy, I found it really hard to get into PE. I could never do forward rolls to the teacher's satisfaction.

Looks like a lot of us hv the same wavelength. How do you change from MC to PE? Any subjects/projects PE's prefer?

How to get into PE:Head through the gates, into the side door, down the corridor (no running!), into the gym, change into your pants, vest and pumps. Hey presto, you're in PE!Now climb that rope Watkins!Problem is, last time I tried to get into PE the buggers called the Police. Think my beard gave me away!

I thought most people wanted to get out of PE. You just need a sick note for that. Perhaps the converse works for getting into PE - send a note from your doctor along with your CV certifying your good health and robust constitution.
