So being of the position where I can't get to a first round interview without relevant experience/degree from oxbridge I decided to swallow my pride (and sanity) and call up around 30 companies to plea for an unpaid work placement.The result? three quarters literally just said no and put the phone down, a few 'politely' just said no and put the phone down....one woman actually laughed and one said 'maybe, send in your cv and we'll see what we can do'. Was it worth it?, well a chance with a fairly disreputable company in exchange for about 2 hours phone time, 3 hours research about a 25% reduction in self esteem (which will be regenerated by the morning) and a headache - no doubt caused by the radiation from my 2001 Nokia).Answer: Probably not, nevertheless I will begin again in earnest on monday morning so keep an ear out - you might well be next on my list.(And hopefully this hasn't strengthened your resolve to tell me to get lost)
