Now this is a subject close to me heart. I came from industry where I was on-call 24/7 and often found myself driving to work in the middle of the night and at the weekend. I'd also be in the office for 07:30 and leave at 18:30 most days.I'm now in consultancy where I work similar hours, the phone rarely rings after 7pm and I earn around 40% more.Having done both I feel qualified to comment. Most consultants earn considerably more than people of their age and experience in industry, you work long hours sure, but you have a variety of work and a satisfaction of output that is rarely achieved in the outside world. If you don't like it get out. Moaning about workload and pay; especially 'hourly rates' is for teachers and union officials. If you've ever sat next to either of these at dinner you will understand just how boring you are!
