CFA

Hi all,Does anyone have any views on the CFA qualification, and to what degree it would facilitate a move from consulting to IB / PE?I have 2 years of mainly strategy experience at a big 4 firm (accounting, not MBBB). Am considering taking the CFA part time over the next 2-3 years before transitioning to IB but want to gauge opinion on whether it's worth it, or whether I should just apply now and restart at analyst level. I'm pretty happy doing what I do now (there's no burning bridge to move on a personal level yet) but at some point will want to make the move to IB.Any opinions welcome!Cheers

apparently it is of more value than an MBA in getting into the world of IB.

In a similar vein, just how valuable is the ACA qualification? All the accountants I know go on and on about it (suprisingly) but what I really want to know is if its the key to success in all fields (IB, PE, Consulting?)I'm currently an analysts at a leading/big player consultancy (not MBBB) and i'm finding the work too 'change management' based and to put it simply, not analystical enough. I was thinking of sitting some exams (ACA) exams privately that you can do outside of a training contract and trying to forge a route away from change wheels and workshops. Is this viable and will it act as the key to everywhere it apparently should do?Cheers in advance

Anon - interesting to hear your thoughts, I guess my motivation is similar. At first impressions I assumed the ACA would be more accountancy based, whereas the CFA is more valuation based - and thus more directly applicable to what you'd do at an IB? I've just assumed that on the basis of very little knowledge though...

Hi, CFA, just following your experience in MC, what qualification did you do in your 2 years in your firm? I was thinking join a consulting firm where i can get to study a IB related qualification eg.CFA. the only one i found is CF in Deloitte, the others want you study a accounting qualification. eg.ACA. I heard the accounting qualification and experience is transformable to IB, since there are lots of model involved, but how transformable it is, and which one is most close?and by the way, anyone know something about SII's diploma?, sound like this is the more straight forward one to get to the top of financial firm.Anyone with inside knowledge and experience commond on this please, i am applying for graduate position now, but feel really confused recently, thank you for the help.
