I agree with Chris, ACN IS tier one.Except, its NOT a management consultancy! ( the reason of why they claim to be is still bizzare) They are a tier 1 IT/SI player - NOT an MC. And i can speak with some, modest, authority having spent 5 years in SBA. For the few things the do in consulting, strategy, culture or change, they are well into tier 3.

The PL group sits within Operational Transformatin in Operations which, as has been said, is seperate from Strategy in the UK (from this year). The work is mainly focused on large scale programmes in the Public Sector, TMT and EIU although there is increasing demand in FS. It's the most highly utilised service area in the Firm but suffers from a bit of a Jack of All trades master of none perception. In addition to providing programme management support they also provide Project Portfolio management extertise.

Chris,I used to work in the PL practice till about 6 months ago. They do alot of interseting work with good clients and it's headed by a top guy, Richard B. However be aware that Deloittes are notoriously tight. I know the SM band is 75-95 basic, which to my mind is a bit light but there you go. However, at Deloittes once people hit SM there's an implicit understanding that you've got potential to hit Partner, so it may be worth looking at.
