Hi all,I was wondering if it is possible to move into, and get on in consultancy at the large financial firms eg PWC, E&Y etc without a financial qualification(ACA etc)? Could you ever reach partner without such a qualification?I am currently working for ACN in Business systems integration, financial services operating group. I am wondering if this option is available to me once I've gained more experience. Thanks for any comments!

To enter the consulting division of the companies you mentioned you do not need an ACA qualification. Actually, very very few people I know in these companies are qualified. (remember, this is only valid for the consulting arms - not tax, audit, brs etc)However, by gaining experience in IT at accenture you might be going in opposite directions. You should try to change asap - perhaps EY - which are recruiting heavily, or try and land some high level consulting projects with Acn. Stay away from integration

Beware the rumours of job losses looming at E&Y. PwC and Deloitte are likely to be the two survivors of the accounting firms new start ups consultancies. If you're interested in joining another shop, why not look at a decent consulting firm, rather than a crude bolt on to an accounting partnership?

Hi guys,Thanks for your comments. Here's a different question. Better career development by slogging it out with the same company or by chopping and changing a bit? Thanks

Thats a tricky one.I would probably only move if offered a more senior position or if I was confident of better chances of progression. You obviously have to weigh that against rebuilding your network and "personal brand".Kazp

Agreed. There are no job cuts at EY BAS that I know of. The comment earlier on this thread saying that there are is a downright lie ! Dont know why people use this forum to pass around lies. I think that its very sad.

Don't think its lies about job cuts in both FS and BAS. Ask your partner for clarification if you're concerned, before snapping at others on this board
